All sessions would include a consult before shooting. I like to get to know my clients before taking their pictures, it helps them to relax with me and the camera.
Engagement
This would typically be an on location shoot. We could meet at an area park or a place that is special to the two of you. The location would be planned ahead of time, so make sure you have something in mind before the shoot. Outfit changes are welcome, just be yourselves.
Maternity
This could take place in your home, my studio space, or on location. These can be done with the mother alone, with the father, or with other children. They can be fully covered or nude. The images taken would be up to the discretion of the expectant mother.
Labor and Delivery
As a mother I understand that some babies come in the middle of the night, and that is just fine by me. My cell is on at all times when I am waiting for a mother to deliver. We will meet at least once before delivery to discuss details around a documentary shoot of this nature.
Coverage of your life changing event will begin with your phone call alerting me to your active labor. I will meet you either at the hospital, birthing center of your choice, or your home if you are having a home birth. You can expect photographs of mom laboring, hospital staff at work, the arrival, the first weigh in, footprints, and introductions to family and friends. I will stay through the first hour of life with your new miracle.
I do my best to shoot without flash so that the mother may remain calm during labor. Some hospitals do not allow a photographer in surgery for a C-section, please check with your hospital if you know that you will be having one. I have some options for this situation, we can discuss it further if this applies to you.
Newborns
Newborns are easier to pose during their first seven days of life. They tend to sleep more soundly and cooperate much better. You can expect to have a very sweaty shoot as babies love to be warm, it helps them stay asleep during the session. Some shots might include: mom with baby, baby with dad, or just baby being cute. I have some newborn props, please feel free to request or use any blankets or props that are special to the family. I have studio lights to use if there is not enough natural light available during the session. These sessions can run a little longer if baby is fussy. I allow time for feeding and rocking so that baby is content and happy.
Children
I have many options available for sessions with children. As always, feel free to bring a special blanket or toy as they can always be worked into a session. These sessions can take place in area parks, your home, or my studio space. I photograph anything from first steps, to birthday cake smashes, and loving siblings.
