{Puyallup/Tacoma Area Photographer}
I'm Melissa, and I'm an artist and a portrait photographer. When I was 17 I decided to go to college to become an artist. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with myself afterwards but I knew I had to be creative. I have been artistic my entire life, dancing, drawing, and playing clarinet. I think when I picked up my first camera I realized it was the missing piece of me. In 1999, I graduated with my BFA from Cornish College of the Arts, in Seattle, Washington.
After college, I returned to my home town, married an old friend and we started our family. We now have three amazing kids, two boys and our little girl. I've been chasing our kids around for years with a camera, from first steps, through all of the orchestra concerts, football games, and track meets.
My goal with my photography is to catch life's special moments. I know as I get older my memories have already begun to fade. I love having photos to look back on because kids change every moment. I know what it's like to be expecting a child, how it feels to see a brand new baby, and how exciting it is to watch every step of that child growing up. These experiences help me when preserving your memories.
